ASPEN 4TH OF JULY PARADE INFO & MAP

PARADE STARTING/STAGING

The parade will begin at 11am. Harley Parking before and after the parade will be on Cooper St. Between Hunter and Spring. Please park here and head to parade staging by 10:30am. (Harleys will start the parade at 11am from Aspen and Main).

Floats will arrive to staging area at approximately 10:00am. All 5 lanes of Main Street, from Aspen Street to 2nd Street, will be closed to all traffic & designated for parade staging only.

PARADE ROUTE

The parade will start East on Main Street. It will turn South onto Hunter Street, then West onto Cooper Avenue. The parade will continue West on Cooper Avenue to Galena Street. At Galena it heads North for 2 blocks before turning West onto Hopkins Avenue. The parade will continue South on Mill then West on Hyman Avenue. Parade participants will be directed to disperse at Hyman and Monarch Street.

PARADE JUDGING

Parade judging will take place in front of the Hotel Jerome. Participants will be limited to 1 minute or less for any performances in front of the judges. Security will be onsite monitoring all entries to help prevent gaps in the parade route.

Recognition will be awarded to the best entries in the following categories:
Most Patriotic | Most Humorous | Best Animal | Best Music | Most Outrageous | Best Children’s

PARADE REMINDERS

The City of Aspen will enforce its noise pollution ordinance. Offending motorcycle riders can be cited for a muffler requirement violation. The 4th of July will, however, observe a six-hour grace period from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to allow riders to enjoy the parade!

Water Balloons and water guns will not be permitted.  According to city ordinances, those caught throwing water balloons or spraying participants with water guns will be removed from the parade and could face citations and/or arrests.

Candy and other goodies should be handed out; throwing any items from parade floats along route is prohibited.


Transportation & Parking Tips
  • Parking in Aspen will be extremely limited. Ride RFTA, walk or bike for a stress-free day! Bus info is available at 970-925-8484 or at http://www.rfta.com/.
  • FREE parking will be available at the Brush Creek Park & Ride, with free and frequent bus service to and from Aspen.
  • The Hunter Creek bus will operate “backwards” from approximately 9am-3pm. Bus stops at the Wheeler Opera House and on Mill Street will not be served during this timeframe.
  • Buses that travel on Main Street will be re-routed from approximatley 9am-3pm to accomodate the 4th of July parade.
  • Be sure to comply with all posted parking regulations and watch for special parking and street closures to avoid a ticket or tow.
Safety Tips:
  • Curfew for minors (under 18) is from 11pm-5am.
  • Use Tipsy Taxi if you are intoxicated and have no means to get home. DUI enforcement is active all the time.
  • We all love our dogs, but please keep your dogs home due to the intense heat. If you do bring them to town keep your dogs on leashes or indoors during fireworks. Sign-up for the City of Aspen’s fireworks alert at http://www.aspenpitkin.com/
  • Open containers of alcohol and fireworks are illegal in Aspen.
A detour will be in place by 9am. Detour Route Map (Everyone will be sent through the Detour even if you live close by – only floats are allowed on Main Street). SEE MAP – Detour route (east bound traffic into Aspen ): Follow Main St until you reach 3rd street. From 3rd Street you will follow Bleeker St. to Mill St. From Mill St you will take a right onto Rio Grande Place and follow to Original Street.
